Notice biographique
Monsieur Luc
Watrin est archéologue-préhistorien, spécialisé depuis
une quinzaine d’années dans les périodes prédynastiques
et les premières lignées dynastiques égyptiennes. Il a
suivi une double formation technique en archéologie
égyptienne et orientale à l'Ecole du Louvre puis à
l’Université de Paris I – Sorbonne (Institut
d’Archéologie) où il a été l'élève de Pierre Amiet et de
Jean-Louis Huot, soutenant avec succès au milieu des
années 1990 plusieurs travaux universitaires sur le
thème des relations entre l’Egypte et le monde oriental
au IVe millénaire. Il a acquis une expérience pratique
d’archéologie et de préhistoire en France, dans le
domaine de l’archéologie de sauvetage national (INRAP)
où il dirige rapidement des chantiers de fouille menant
à la découverte de sites pré- et protohistoriques
notamment sur les bords de la Seine à Paris. Il a
effectué ensuite une mission de fouille en Irak sur le
site néolithique de Tell el-Sawwân puis conduit des
travaux de fouille en Haute-Egypte à El-Adaima et en
Basse-Egypte à Ma’adi. Il fonde en 1997 le GREPAL
(Groupe de Recherche Européen Pour l’Archéologie au
Levant) réunissant des archéologues internationaux
professionnels indépendants spécialisés dans les
interventions de sauvetage urgent et dirige depuis 2003
une revue scientifique francophone, la revue du GREPAL.
Il travaille en collaboration avec un laboratoire
dépendant du CNRS (UMR 7041). Monsieur Luc Watrin
depuis 1995 a publié de nombreux travaux sur la
préhistoire égyptienne se spécialisant notamment sur les
problèmes de chrono-stratigraphie et les interactions
entre les différentes régions d’Afrique et du
Proche-Orient. Ses travaux sur la chronologie relative
de la Basse-Egypte font aujourd’hui référence dans les
milieux scientifiques, comme hier ceux de Werner Kaiser
sur la Haute-Egypte. |
